BLADE LIFE: An Interview with Rob Zbranek

Negative Mistrial

What drives you to do what you do?

It gives me room to breathe. Blading is something that if one doesn’t do it themselves, or know someone that does it, than they might not completely understand that it’s more than the skating. Our world hasn’t been televised. Our REAL world. I go out and skate hard because I can come home feeling accomplished after having laced something I’ve been thinking of doing all week. There are large amounts of satisfaction in conquering an obstacle that you spotted out of nowhere. A small piece of the city that to the ordinary eye looked meaningless. Watching my friends pump their fist or smile after that switchup they did was solid and clean. These moments I speak of are nothing but priceless. I’m all-in when it comes to the blading game. Dislike some of the insider politics, but I get over it and lace up and let the good times roll.

Anything else you want to get off your chest?

Much love to S Y F Blade Cru, my friends, my happiness, S D S F, Sic Apparel, everyone involved with rollerblading, thank you all for believing in me. Greg King for shooting the most surprisingly beautiful shots… your time for the world to see your patience and dedication is coming, and to my gorgeous girlfriend Andrea for continuing to believe in me. Big thanks to you guys @ ONE for keeping rollerblading real by showcasing the under-the-radar shredders that help to keep this beautiful ART alive! Swag. Peace. SYF. Life.

Rob has Influenced me since the first time I was able to leave my small farm town and head into Corpus Christi downtown skating. He was the only guy for years that was at the Top of his game and on another level then everyone else. Still even is on a whole notha level.

There has always been drama within the Rolling industry in South Texas so its not a surprise to me to hear that the pro’s treat there lower class in the same way. The LOVE inside the sport must start from the ground up , and I hope ROB starts that LOVE because I do feel he will be the one next big NAME.

Anyone remember Against the One Way?

I’m not down with SYF but I will support ROB Z all the way to the top, he introduced me to Dustin Latimer and plenty of others, pumped me up to do tricks I never thought I’d do. Much Love! Keep it rolling ROB!
