Like all bladers within the sport’s small family, I am far from a perfect person. I am opinionated about skating politics, especially when the issue relates to me directly. I was born deaf in my right ear which means when you meet me and we chat I am either way too loud or way too quiet. I am 25 years old but have the gift of looking a lot more like a 15-year-old grom who just got his first pair of blades. However, with 14 years of dedication to street skating on my resume and the fact that I spent the last eight of those years living 20 minutes from Mr. John Haynes (who you may know as one of the most talented photographers to contribute to our sports print publications) I have quite a lot of old skating to share with you. This blog is a way of showing you the retro pics that never came to light, with writing done almost the exact opposite of ONE’s popular Photo Journals. Instead of the photographer focusing on camera equipment, lighting and the challenges it presented to take the photo, I will blog the skater’s point of view with unique stories about each photo and details about the unseen difficulties that I encountered as I was doing the trick. Don’t forget that all of these photos we shot and all of the videos we make in blading… they have more than one story to tell. It is often simply a matter of who is willing to tell them.
