I’ve been blading since 1988, in the “BG” era – that is “Before Grinds.” I would often get stopped in the street and asked “what are those things you’re riding on?” 24 years later, things have come full circle for me. I am still stopped in the street, but now it’s more like “I didn’t know you guys/bladers still exist.” Well, we do, and I’m here to talk about the old and the new. I’ve been collecting pretty much anything and everything with blades on it since I started rolling — magazines, VHS tapes, blades, wheels, t-shirts and more. I love it. I search through thrift stores like a madman with an addiction that can’t be controlled, and I never leave an item behind. It will join the showcase of my collection, “Tracy White’s Blade Museum.” I am also passionate about promoting blading and getting blades on kids’ feet. I also plan to profile people that are promoting our sport in different ways and getting blades on human beings.
Blading has given so much to me — joy, pain, travel, passion and, most importantly, brothers that have become my family. If you really love blading, you understand that it owes us nothing, but we owe it everything, like a parent that has given us everything without asking anything in return but for us to be happy. “The Giving Tree” comes to mind.
So please enjoy my blog. I hope you learn something about the old and the new, and re-ignite your passion about Rollerblading.
