When did you learn to skate? Who taught you? And how long has it been?
For many of us, those are questions we hardly ever think about… and the sort of questions we probably don’t think of when we see inexperienced skaters at our favorite parks or spots.
But we all had to start somewhere, right?!
And we all know that MORE BLADERS would be good, right?
So when our friends at The Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado, reached out to us about sharing this video they put together about basic beginner safety, it reminded us to take a step back and think about how we all got started.
There are a lot of awkward aspects to learning to blade, and sometimes it’s hard to ask a friend or someone at the skatepark to give tips or pointers.
Which brings us to this video featuring Justy Daley, Athletic Training Resident at The Steadman Clinic, going over some basic suggestions on beginner safety.
We realize that for many of our most dedicated readers this information is not new. But as the summer sun draws people outside, it seemed like a good time to remind us all about how important it is to master the basics, and have accessible resources for information during our quests to learn.
