Texas Skate Series: Austin

Get Wet / Greenbelt

I care not to take away from the quality of rollerblading at any of the first three stops of this series, but I’m inspired to write about the effects of the Austin stop. This stop brought brothers and sisters back together. We are ONE! (Pun not REALLY intended. Ha!) But, seriously, rollerblading isn’t just about the skating. It is something truly unexplainable unless you are interwined in its tentacles and language. Rollerblading reaches out and bonds people. Watching everyone laugh and be themselves, all stripped of pretension and ego was something I’ll never forget. Jay Geurnik produced the Official Austin TSS Qualifier edit, and it portrayed to me that sentimental feel I speak of now. No one filmed the moments that transpired amongst us at The Greenbelt, but everyone that experienced it will attest to how awesome it felt to walk away from that water feeling whole and important. Texas rollerblading and all its cast felt it. The rollerblading industry might not be that strong, but trust when I say that its rollerbladers truly are!

Randy Edwards and Brady Johnston / Greenbelt

(Thank you Will and Ant for making this happen. San Antonio, July 21st is the next stop, followed by Dallas on September 22nd. Come out, speak freely and live. Cheers to all in Texas… and Worldwide!)
