I had the pleasure of meeting Chris Calkins a few times at skating events and just recently again at his Sin City Session 2 in Las Vegas. After Vegas, I drove to LA where Chris and Daniel Scarano took me around to spots and parks for a few days. It was a pleasure to skate with them, they’re good people. Daniel is an amazing filmer and Chris is such a shredder!
On a photo mission, I asked Chris if he had any cool spots to photograph at; I wanted to get a grip of shots for him. He told me about a ledge in some ditches he knows and, trying to imagine the spot, I was not expecting this! Getting this shot was way fun. I tried a few things and ended up hanging over the edge with the fisheye to show the massive drop underneath this ledge. Chris had a line with his steezed-out back backslide followed by a wallride 180 over the next gap.
After a few days of skating and shooting with these guys I left LA super juiced on the skating and people there. I can’t wait to go back (and shred that bowl in Venice, that was so fun!). Thanks guys, see you again soon!
