ONE Skater of the Year is an opportunity for the rollerblading community to decide which skater best represents our lifestyle and sport. The responsibility attached to a title like that is too big for ONE person or group to decide, so we opened up both the nominations and final voting to the general public. And judging from the participation, skaters were eager to share their opinions. Tens of thousands of nominations and votes later, one skater took a commanding lead above his contemporaries, earning himself the honorable title of ONE Skater of the Year - and that skater is Nils Jansons. Hailing from Latvia and until recently best known amongst European bladers, Nils has exploded onto the international scene with big tricks landed during big moments in front of big crowds. As reigning Class President of the New Enthusiasm generation, Nils is not only a champion blade talent, he's also a world class blade ambassador -- running his own events and doing outreach across his native country. Watch this guy shred a massive spot and then do a school demo and get new kids on to skates. With motivation like that you can't help but wonder what he's going to accomplish next. - JE
