Jonathan Naisbitt was all over this in his 1982 book MEGATRENDS. I remember getting into an argument in a news writing class about how this would happen one day and render newspapers (especially) obsolete. Now here it is. Imagine once it’s so cheap that the material is basically disposable.
Wow, just remembered when I read that book: the summer I worked at Woodward. Bought it at a used bookstore in State College for a buck.
