BIG DEAL: ONE Logo Mission with Ron Copeland

Back in my hometown there’s a skatepark that I volunteered some time to helping get built. It’s a fun park, with an one-of-a-kind view made possible by its neighbor the monstrous Goodyear Airdock, and for years it has served as a stomping ground for Northeast Ohio bladers. But not too long ago two bikers collided with each other while riding there, resulting in one of them passing away. A tragic situation. But the sudden attention for the park made the community take notice of another problem at the skatepark: vandalism. To help prevent further damage to the park, the city invited the community to take artistic ownership over the park’s appearance, working with local businesses and donators to arrange for free paint and materials for the public to use to do just that. Lucky for us, Ron Copeland was willing to travel from Pittsburgh, Pa., to Akron to throw up a ONE logo in commemoration of the times spent there sessioning. Check out the pics inside.

After making a big-ass stencil, Ron laid down the paint, peeled, then worked on some details.

Lookin’ pretty crisp on the fun hip.

A better view of the whole park. Yup, that big thing in the background is a giant snake-run.

Thanks for your time and effort Ron!
