BLADE LIFE: Taiwan Nike SB team in San Diego

A few months back two Taiwanese skaters known simply as Neo and Killer K arrived in San Diego via a Nike SB sponsorship from back home. Nike SB? As in skateboarding? I guess over there they REALLY can’t tell the difference between blades and boards. Reminds me of security guards back in the day. “But the sign says ‘No Skateboarding’, these are blades” worked for years in some parts of the country! But here in San Diego we need to not worry about these things because they KNOW who we are and I wouldn’t roll the dice with ignorance if confronted…

This shoot took place where most shoots do here in San Diego and that’s a school. Usually a school with shorter fences! This one was destined to be an authentic photo shoot for sure. Deep in the old “B Bell” hood lies this gem, which some thought to be the “secret spot,” but in all reality has been skated for years by Haffey and other local 619ers. On this day the Vicious cameras were rolling in full effect, the Santee crew came out rolling ten deep, and all in all everyone had a great time. Killer K threw down the first 540 to cess slide that I’ve ever seen (see the Vicious ad in Fade Nation), and Neo laced a perfect topsoul to fakie on the c-ledge. Nice work Team Nike SB! See you soon. -WD

i still try the “we arent skateboarding” line but that just gets a “i dont care your all a bunch of skater fags to me” line in return

so does this mean Haffey is going to get a signature Air Haffey line of skates from nike? he has been wearing that Jordan jersey at all the comps lately…

the best is “take off your skateboards!”, which i’ve heard at least twice. or, the confused expression on the security guard’s face after he says “no skateboarding!” and you say “oh, ok.” and continue skating.

Stand up and represent like these two. If you got any knowledge of our history IE rollerbladings first few years, you might be concerned with the fact that everything we had in the beginning came from another sport.(skateboarding)

This is not a bad thing bc most extreme sports did not just become a reality. In fact, most extreme sports trick names and movements are based on skateboardings trick names and movements.

So my hat goes off to these two bladers representing skateboarding and doing it with style. The rest of you might wanna take a few notes from these guys and realize that we need to be more creative and start using and utilizing every option available to promote our sport.
