Like most people, I am on Facebook way too much. However, this is why — right now — you are reading an update on a legend like Lyle Shivak. I saw a photo of Lyle punching what appeared to be Ron White with a baseball cap on, and read about how he got into a fight with some guy that calling him (Lyle) a “faggot rollerblader.” Needless to say, it didn’t go too well for the other guy.

Besides the fact that Lyle is a fucking bad ass, he has been throwing hammers alongside the biggest names in rollerblading for quite some time now. So without further ado…

How the fuck are ya’, Lyle?
I’m good! But life’s kinda crazy. I’m unemployed, so that sucks, but I have more time to skate now. Glad to be alive and have a place to rest my head… I can’t complain.

Livin’ the dream. So the reason this interview is happening right now is because of a photo that I just saw online.
Ha ha, word!

Run me through that day; were you guys just skating? Filming for an edit/profile?
We were out filming a new Fester project and Damien wanted to do this kink rail. I was skating with him, getting him juiced, but I kept fucking up and got kinda pissed that I was having so much trouble with it. So I went to the truck to take my skates off, chill, and film dub. Right when I got to the truck some dude drove by all slow and called me a “faggot rollerblader.” The dude was looking at me like I had done something wrong, so I called him a pussy and told him that if he stopped I would beat his ass. He got really pissed after that and said “I’ll shove those rollerblades up your ass!” I continued to call him a pussy and I thought that was it, so I sat on the curb and started taking my skates off.

Just then I heard Cornnut yell “Watch out!” — I turned around and he was like 3 ft. from me. I stood up and he tried to grab me! I punched him in his face and he threw me to the ground. I got up and started punching him and the guy couldn’t land a single hit on me, it was like he was moving in slow motion. Ha ha.

After a while the guy realized I wasn’t a pussy like he had assumed and started to run away. Damien flew passed me, grabbed the guy and swung him around, then threw him face down into a thorn bush! Damien punched him on both sides of his head while I started punching him in his ribs. We beat that guy till I was so tired, I couldn’t even stand. I rolled off and Damien finally let him up. He stood up with his shirt all ripped up, face swollen and went back to his car.

So how often would you say some sort of fight happens with you and another Santee crew member?
This is the first one with more than one of us. Most people are smart enough to keep their mouths shut! Jimmy Ormsby is usually the one that’s lookin’ to fight, but he hardly makes it out skating anymore. We are a chill group, but we don’t take kindly to people talking shit for no reason, let alone talking shit on the sport I love more than anything.

That’s legit. You said you guys are working on a Fester project?
Yep. We’re always filming and shooting photos for something to do with Fester, as well as other vids and promos for sponsors. We’re definitely making another Fester video, no details on a release date yet though.

Do you know if the Blade Cup is on tomorrow?

Yeah man, did you get a chance to make it out?
No, my ride flaked on me at the last minute. I wish I could make it to more events, I just never have the funds to make it happen. Once I get back on my feet with a full-time job I will be able to attend more contests and events. Until then though, I’m stuck!

I hear ya’; what do you think about rollerblading “making it back on TV”?
I’m juiced about it! I hope it catches on. I don’t understand why it’s not on TV more. Hopefully this will kick things off… thanks to Jon Julio for breaking the ice there.

It’s definitely an exciting time to be in rollerblading.
Yeah. That, and Haffey getting more exposure with Nitro. We’ve just got to keep pushing it.

Alright dick tip, tell me about where you are as a skater. Who are your sponsors?
As a skater, I just try to keep “grinding.” Ha ha. As for sponsors, it’s Remz, Fester, Ground Control, and SDSF skate shop. Big thank you to all of those guys by the way.

What would you like to accomplish before you’re “too damn old for this shit?”
Win a major contest, get a pro skate, maybe start a company of my own or be a designer for a company.

I have some ideas, but I’m keeping them locked up for now. I have been screwed over before, not making that mistake again…

I feel like I have given up on skating in that aspect though honestly. I do it because I love it and I don’t really know anything else, ha ha.

Are we going to see any sections or edits from you soon?
For sure. I am going to keep stacking clips for the Fester video, maybe an online deal too. There is a camera every time I go skating, so I’m sure you’ll see me in something soon.
