KILLSONS! I can’t wait to see what he’ll do for his interview pics. Probably something crazy haha.

  • truth - February 27th, 2012

bullshit….we all know it should have been richie. having a voting system where you can vote as many times as you want is the most ludicrous thing ever

  • JE - February 27th, 2012

Thanks Truth, but you’re off by a mile. ONE SOTY surveying is handled by a pro survey system and they clean out all duplicate and suspicious IP voting. It doesn’t get more legit than this. The world is a big place — sorry the opinion you are so sure of isn’t shared by the WORLDWIDE population of bladers who decide the SKATER OF THE YEAR.

Congrats again to all our TOP 10 FINALISTS. These guys all shred hard.

    the FUTURE

  • j - February 28th, 2012

think richie should have won personally, but regardless anyway Nils is a absolute beast who killed it all year, fair play!

  • J. Bernie - February 29th, 2012

Congratulations to Nils and with no offence intended to Nils or any of the contenders, I also was expecting to see Richie’s name up there. Maybe next year?

That’s good to know. Thanks for clearing that up, Justin! I personally voted for Nils because the industry has been sleeping on him, and I don’t want them messing around with him the same way they did with CJ. Hopefully by next year we can see this kid get flown out to some 5 star comps, maybe Pow-Wow or Blading Cup? NYC Invite? Whatever, just get the kid where he can compete against the WORLD’s best. He is in that category now for sure! Richie’s dope but I can’t remember what video sections he had this year or what comps he won, and of course he already has his pro status. Congrats to all who got nominated. That alone is a huge honor.

Man I don’t get this. Nils is good no doubt, but the people don’t know best in this case. Richie managed the powerhouse and its website, put out countless edits of not only himself, but other skaters, played a key role in the power blading concept and product development, received his 2nd pro skate, was in attendance of major comps and gave exposure to smaller international comps by way of his presence, has travelled to so many places giving blading exposure. If that don’t get you blader of the year, but putting out 1 section and skating a few comps and placing well does, then so be it.

  • Truth 2 - March 4th, 2012

Nils deserve to be the skater of the year! He is only one who is not from USA and only one who was an AM rider. He had WRS fan favorite video, he got 2nd place in Winterclash and 1st place in Sweedsh open championship where btw Richie was 2nd. Richie deservs to be best, but Nils deserve little bit more 🙂

  • Allan - March 6th, 2012

Have to agree with Mj on this. Nils is a nice guy but to compare his contribution to blading in ’11 with Richie is just laughable. You say someone cleans out “suspicious” votes. Based on what exactly? Then someone is making an arbitrary judgement and eliminating votes? Nice. That destroys any statistical sample. A select panel of peers shud pick the winner of this trophy. Congrats ONE, with this you just rendered your own award meaningless. Guess your the ones ‘off by a mile’.

  • Alan Hughes - March 6th, 2012

I agree, I thought Richie deserved it more, but what JE means by cleaning out suspicious votes is computer software that prevents people from voting more than once or spaming or hacking. Not some person sitting down manually deciding this vote or that vote looks wack. I don’t personally agree with the outcome, but the voting system was legit. More people wanted Nils to win than Richie.

  • whitey - March 8th, 2012

@ Truth 2 -Richie is not from the USA, he’s from Canada! I don’t know who deserved to win, how can you make a decision like that really. Richie and Nils both had great years. If I had to say, I’d say Richie though. I mean that fan favorite video Nils got was a lot of old clips was it not? Sure he killed it at Winterclash recently, but maybe he should have got like best upcomer. Sure he’s not an upcomer, he’s already legit, but he’s not been in the spotlight much till now. But maybe that is why he won. Actually I was more excited by clips I saw of Nils this year than of Richies.
And what about haffey? He did a lot! I should have voted for him. I enjoyed those blade games more than any other edits last year.
PS. They don’t really have to give back the trophy do they?
