Danny Malm — Backside Royale 270 out

I had just gotten home from school when I got a call from Danny, “Hey Nick, want to shoot a photo?” I agreed. “Meet me at the parking garage rail in Folsom,” he said. I didn’t exactly picture this as your every-day-casual-first-spot obstacle to skate, but I drove over there anyways. When we got there he was a little skeptical about it, mainly due to the fact that it’s square and has a drop on the side, so we walked around for a little bit to see if there was anything else to shoot, but we had no luck. So we went back to the rail — and a cop was waiting right in the landing, but I just told him we were shooting for a school project and we were in the clear. Danny first started by doing a Soul Grind on the bottom rail, then he Back Royaled the first down, and next try he landed it perfectly through the kink. When he first did it I still was setting up my flashes; I told him I wasn’t even ready and he said “it’s okay, I’ll just do it again.” Once I was finally ready, a few tries later he laced it perfectly with a 270 out off the flat. — Nick Korompilas

Yo! Sorry for not including that in the entry, I will do that next time ha. Just a hint, if you put your cursor over the image it says “Danny Malm…” I should have included that in the entry tho.

As for the setup, I used 3 flashes one 544 at the bottom left to light up the foreground, and 2 Sunpak 383’s, one behind him to the camera left and one behind the brick wall on the right [there is a window sill to set the flashes on]

    Shot with/at Canon 40d, 1/250, f/7.1 @ 125mm…
