Dustin Dixon — Backslide

Check out some indoor action from Sacramento as Nick K. and Dustin Dixon head to the skatepark. Though we find out one of the two didn’t get to skate (guess which one?!), seems the trip wasn’t a bad rap at all. Dustin Dixon — Backslide

Dustin and I met up at the skatepark to warm up, except he was the only one skating because I didn’t have money to get in. Our original plan was to skate the park, then go street skating, but due to laziness that never happened so we made the best of what we had. To say the least, it felt amazing to take a skating picture again (it’s been awhile because of winter…) and shooting here made me realize that even though most of us in Sacramento only skate skateparks in the winter time, it’s still fun to shoot blading at them. I had originally placed a strobe to the top left and bottom right of me, but the lighting was pretty flat so I moved one of them to the top right and it was perfect. Since it was pretty dark inside the skatepark I had to bump up my ISO to about 200 in order to get some ambient light to show on the lights and window panels… and I also shot this at 1/160th. From there I just put on the fisheye and Dustin Dixon did a warm up royale, and then stepped it up to a first-try backslide on this gnarly wooden rail. — Nick Korompilas
