In finishing my Masters degree last fall I wanted to focus on making a dedicated street section for the new year. Being in the UK now for over a year and a half I finally feel adjusted to the challenging skate conditions this country has to offer. Ohio trained me well, but I had not fully embraced the ‘crust’ that includes more rain, more mud, more grit, and definitely more bricks. Many places can claim ‘crust’ status but Reading might be up at the top of the list. I had not intended to film much during winter, but the temperature remained mild enough to skate. I surprised myself in being able to film all these clips in a period of roughly six weeks, which led me to consider this the first volume of what I hope is an ongoing series of sections for 2025. I managed to avoid the injury bug until recently, so we’ll see how my 41-year-old body holds up the rest of the year.
