Texas. It’s a huge state with a deep history in rollerblading. It’s so big, most coverage only focuses on one city or scene. Jaysin Williams put in the time and miles to hit the big cities and capture it all himself. Here is what he saw, and the words the locals shared about what’s going on in their streets. — ONE
Austin
Recently, I feel the Austin blade scene has had a wave of revival and started heading in a new direction. Our scene has seen bladers come and go. Only a handful have really stuck around and kept that certain foundation it always had; ambition. There were never any decent skateparks in Austin until now, so everybody was always down to skate street. For me, street skating in general really speaks to the essence of how exhilarating blading can be when really evaluating each and every aspect. This same thought seemed to cast through most of the bladers brains since you’ll still see them at the public parks every Monday trying that new trick they couldn’t lace last week. Although Austin has had bladers fall off the map, the Monday night skates, Donate and Skate comps and many other factors have put a bunch of new and old faces on blades and I think that’s dope. Our blade scene couldn’t be much healthier! From seeing Mr. Yeager strapping blades on for the first time in years to the new kids learning to drop in, I believe our scene will never die. — Mason Richard
This is why I love Texas
fuck yeah much love for the SA scene we are running into new bladers more and more. Props to all of you for making Texas look so good.
yeah boy SA rep 3 and 1 to go lol worl TX we out here doin it!
hell yeah…love it… props to jaysin for all the sick photos… TX What!
LST
The only part in TX that probably sucks is Wichita Falls TX! Im stationed here and have only come across one other rollerblader.
This article was fucking amazing! The scene is Texas is so huge,it is great to see it so well documented. Props Jaysin!
LST was mentioned because its the realest
Oh god anonymous online shit talking. LST is cool and we’re all family here in Texas but please, whoever made that anonymous post please let us know who you are so we don’t waste our time being cool with you. Bet you don’t.
Fuck the Orange Peeps Tribe bullshit. Those bitches aren’t worthy of even saying they are from Dallas. John Sullivan, Brian Moore??!! Those fags inherited the ground laid by true o.g.’s like Shawn Robertson and Aaron Jacobs… and they did it poorly. Those kids are the reason rollerblading is associated with GAYNESS now.
Rollerbladers in SA hit me up at 2108272630 really want to learn new shit but i cant find anyone!
I agree with A. Jacobs, although i dont remember him… Shawn Robertson was a true Professional, always talked to little kids and bladed hard!! Even then was still better than most pro’s today. He even gave me a pair of his old k2’s..but that was over 15 years ago, as far as today, the “sully and bmo” although i dont know those dudes personally, i cant talk bad about them, but i do think they act like they shit dont stink..both good in their own ways but come back down to DFW and respect all the bladers.. even the ones you know your better than..
hey aaron jacobs and rolo. take your hate to another state. TX
I’m from the Beaumont area, but now I’m living in Houston… Looking for some people to skate with. If anyones down shoot me an email?
lol. neither me or john claim to be “running shit.” We’re just doing what we like to do. If you want to put us on a pedestal and say we arent living up to what you guys did before us, then i’m sorry….but living up to what you or any of your friends did was never any kind of intention on our part. we’re just doing what we love. you haven’t put a pair of skates on in how many years? quit hating from the sidelines and find something to do other than talk shit on people who could care less if you’re even alive.
If I’d known this was being put together I probably could have arranged for an El Paso write-up – a city people have told me they’ve driven through it on their way to Texas. Not quite New Mexico, not quite Arizona, not quite Texas; those guys feel left out of everything.
Love this article shows how rollerbladers NEED to stick together and help each other out if not u might as well just get a skate board and support the haters. Great job!!!
ftw Big rich’ll put a toe roll in ya a$$
Aaron – There’s nothing derogatory about being gay, leave your homophobia outta this. Conflating anything with gayness to connote negativity is just something shitty people like you do. Grow up.
Jarrod – Rollerbladers, skateboarders and BMXers…we are all in the same club and if you treat them with respect they will treat you with respect. The only people causing problems are people with bad attitudes. Luckily, they are the minority. And there’s nothing wrong with being a rollerblader and a skateboarder or biker or whatever. There’s no rule you have to be one dimensional. You might be surprised to learn some of your favorite bladers also skateboard.
