BCSD: Ohio in Training

Before I add another BCSD rant to the books (it’s short and sweet) I want to show love for ONE mag. Thanks for finally giving me a perfect place to talk blading with bladers, I’m juiced to say the least.

So, I have been sitting at work all week thinking about one thing, the 12th annual Bitter Cold Showdown. The vibe around Ohio has been crazy and everyone is gearing up for what always turns into the craziest weekend of the year. I have attended religiously since 2003 and those long awaited goosebumps never fail. Cleveland’s traditional WNS sessions have recently turned into a BCSD training ground where I’m convinced I witnessed the impossible on several occasions. The way the Ohio scene has recently been able to come together to both progress and teach rollerblading has caught me somewhat off guard. What used to be several small crews in the area has now fully integrated into one rolling powerhouse where everyone knows one another, everyone hits everyone up, and everyone pushes above and beyond their own expectations. This BCSD will still be the drunken randomness we all know and love, however, the list of Ohio-based bladers actually in the competition this year is staggering, and they are seriously ready. Are you?
