With the recent opening of We Are One skatepark, the local blade scene has seen somewhat of a revival. New kids are buying new blades and old guys are dusting off their old blades. For the most part the turnout to the contest was the new generation of SLC blading. Everyone was juiced on the spots and the contest was “session-style” where everyone sessioned one spot all together to feed off of each other’s energy and tricks. As the contest advanced through the different obstacles, the skating got more and more intense. In order to reward not only the overall winners but all that pushed themselves, two skaters for each spot were awarded prizes during the duration of the contest.

For a small but strong blade scene it was a huge success. A big shout out needs to go out to Aggressive Mall for the box of loot they provided us with at last minute. And congratulations to Jett Rennert and Marc Clune for taking 1st and 2nd place. Get ready for the next one!
