ONE @ NYC Invitational 2012

One competitor whose presence brought a lot of energy to the comp was CJ Wellsmore. The big news of course is that after riding Remz and USD, CJ is now developing a street skate with Seba. We asked CJ if we could Instagram the photo below. It got a lot of attention.

BTW, CJ did a G-damn Medspin 720 on the final spot that was intense. Look forward to seeing just how this unstoppable, dynamic blade presence is going to impact the global scene.

Skipping ahead a million hours — or like four — the comp was over, and Tim, his brother, Ernie, and I started heading to the hotel. And now, another first as we walked riverside towards Wall Street and we looked out towards Brooklyn, with a great view of both bridges. Good times. The cool air and stronger breeze were a welcome relief from a long, hot day in the sun.

We found our hotel which was hilariously swanky, checked in to jeers from the lobby folk (we were in super dirty, stinky skater mode. Hard to blame them, really.), and then picked up some tequila to get Tim’s birthday started.
