Shooting blading in the winter can be a challenge. There is only a short duration of good natural light for shooting each day, and the cold weather is not always the most pleasant for skating. Whenever we get a nice day that has some clouds that look good, I like to make the most of it. During a weekend trip to Chattanooga, TN, Ray Kronenberg and I took advantage of one of those particular days. After a long day of skating throughout downtown, filming and shooting pictures, we went to skate the outdoor skatepark before an approaching rain and snow mix wrapped up our skating day. The sky quickly grew dark and I wanted one last picture. Ray can always provide me with what I want for the camera, and he quickly landed this forward safety grab 720 with ease. This photo was shot at 1/180th on a Nikon D90 at f3.5, ISO 250, with a Nikon SB600 placed camera left for key light. — Zach Leavell
