Like most things involved with blading, this photograph came together loosely and by chance. My good friend Stefan Brandow alerted me back in July that the Detroit bladers were taking a tour and stopping in Pittsburgh. He gave Al Dolega my information, and after a few messages they were set-up with a place to stay for the last leg of their journey. On the last day of their “Escape from Detroit” we headed to a school in the Sheridan area of Pittsburgh. I had paid close attention to Scott James Berels’ blading the day before, and when I saw this obstacle I immediately told him what I was thinking. A few moments later I spotted Scotty getting to work, so I set up shop and using only natural light, got this shot. I had snapped Scotty at several different moments during his Handplant one-foot Wallride to Royale, but this ended up being the winning frame. This shot is just a taste of what happened during their lengthy blading journey. For more, stay tuned to therollerbladingproject.com. — Bruce Bales
