One of the things that’s so interesting about Cameron Talbott’s skating is how his movements evolve to match the potential of his environment. With a bag of tricks that adapts to dense urban settings or wide-open rural spaces, Cameron can hop, cess slide, and huck himself around on obstacles where another skater may not even try, in the process unlocking unexpected opportunities for rolling progression. Enter the “Bunkers” section, a project that matched Cam against manmade fortifications littered along the San Francisco coastline, and inspired by that same unobstructed visual beauty. Working together with friends Ivan Narez and Erick Garcia, the trio spent six or seven sessions exploring new terrain, sometimes finding hidden potential, but just as likely finding disappointment. As Cameron explains in his own words in the Issue #27 “Battery Boutelle” feature, getting boots on the ground at the spot and deciding what could or couldn’t be done was half the fun. Read all about it in the new issue alongside incredible photos by Erick Garcia, and look for more previews here soon.
