BLADE LIFE: An Interview with Rob Zbranek

Self Portrait

Okay, Rob, let’s get this started. What have you been up to these last few months?

Working mad overtime. The air conditioning business in South Texas is almost more than any of the local companies can handle. Money is good, so I can’t really complain. I’ve been trying to blade when I can throughout the week. Bought my ticket for SDSF Open. Juiced on seeing people I haven’t seen in years. Being 28 and paying rent takes somewhat of a toll, but I blade hard for the love. Just hope to inspire the younger cats to get in as deep as myself.

True Top Soyale

I know you take rollerblading to heart; what has been bugging you lately?

Besides skateboarders thinking the city built the park exclusively for them, I’m just exhausted with seeing (won’t name names) pros and how shitty they act towards their fans, the young grasshoppers that pay their way in the game by purchasing product from shops. I’ve said it a zillion times. You rollerblade. You’re not fucking John Travolta.

Rob has Influenced me since the first time I was able to leave my small farm town and head into Corpus Christi downtown skating. He was the only guy for years that was at the Top of his game and on another level then everyone else. Still even is on a whole notha level.

There has always been drama within the Rolling industry in South Texas so its not a surprise to me to hear that the pro’s treat there lower class in the same way. The LOVE inside the sport must start from the ground up , and I hope ROB starts that LOVE because I do feel he will be the one next big NAME.

Anyone remember Against the One Way?

I’m not down with SYF but I will support ROB Z all the way to the top, he introduced me to Dustin Latimer and plenty of others, pumped me up to do tricks I never thought I’d do. Much Love! Keep it rolling ROB!
