We’ve been shooting photos and filming clips together for a couple years now. What goes through your head when we go out trying to get something fresh?
I happen to be really picky when it comes to what I put out to the public. Well, at least here recently. I just strive to make my rollerblading look strong and confident when I do it. I might not portray that personally, but that’s the way I like to view it myself. Laced, no nonsense shredding. Sagona styles. Latimer. Martinho. Julio. Glowicki. They know what they wanna do and they do it. Rollerblading personified. You can FEEL it when you see it. It has to have that character to it. You know where I’m coming from.
You work hard, and obviously play hard. Do you have some rules to live by when it comes to partying?
No rules. If you feel exorbitantly juiced, live it up. If you feel like laying low, then do so. Don’t let another man dictate your partying indiscretions. Be responsible at all times, though. Know your own limits and TRY to not influence innocent bystanders!
Who do you think is the future of rollerblading?
Two young guns I would have to name first — Ian Freuncht and Mason Richard. Julian Issac. William Issac. I could name off more Texas cats that no one has heard of, but you’ll soon see! Fritz Pietzner, Josh Glowicki, John Sullivan… etc. The future of rollerblading is spread all throughout this country and the world. So many talented kids ripping these days. I have hope for what is to come! Believe that.
Rob you the shit man. Dope ass interview and I’m not just sayin that shit. Truth was told for sure. 143. SYF.
Rob is the fucking TRUTH! He is one of the realest, most dedicated cats in the game,he deserves the shine.Kudos One and Rob! More, more, more!
That was cool. Amazing pics, down dude.
Those shots are beautiful! Good insight of the industry, I share some of your views. I gotta remember the name of Greg King 8)
Rob has Influenced me since the first time I was able to leave my small farm town and head into Corpus Christi downtown skating. He was the only guy for years that was at the Top of his game and on another level then everyone else. Still even is on a whole notha level.
There has always been drama within the Rolling industry in South Texas so its not a surprise to me to hear that the pro’s treat there lower class in the same way. The LOVE inside the sport must start from the ground up , and I hope ROB starts that LOVE because I do feel he will be the one next big NAME.
Anyone remember Against the One Way?
I’m not down with SYF but I will support ROB Z all the way to the top, he introduced me to Dustin Latimer and plenty of others, pumped me up to do tricks I never thought I’d do. Much Love! Keep it rolling ROB!
“You rollerblade. You’re not fucking John Travolta.”- My favorite part of this interview.
Also, amazing photography.
that nuge needs to be in print!
