The Sunday Session Experiment

Andrew Dipaolo

Andrew, every time we got out in the streets you went hard. Can you tell people a bit about your blading background?
Blading started for me about 12 years ago ,back in Pittsburgh, PA. Pittsburgh is the nitty gritty. The spots are tough to skate and nothing is perfect. It was always an adventure heading out into the streets, which is a reason why I think I fell in love with street skating at such a young age. Luckily, I grew up with some of the dopest dudes in the game. Guys like Ryan Parker, Mike Koliner, Brant Pickup, and the Sander brothers (Colin and Cheech), just to name a few.

When did you move to SD?
I moved to San Diego in 2007 for college and just for the adventure of trying something new. I knew there was a decent scene and I was aware of the years of blading history that’s gone down out here. Other than that I knew no one and nothing about the city. Five years later, I have to say it was one of the best decisions of my life!

Would you say acclimating to the weather, women and everything has been difficult or easy?
Ahhh, its so hard man. 75 degrees every day, blue skies, and amazing skate spots! Yeah, right! Not to mention beautiful women instinctively flock to this place like the salmon of Capistrano. Like I said, one of the best decisions of my life.

Tell everyone about DieNasty Select and the events you guys host around town.
Dienasty Select is a streetwear clothing company that two of my buddies and I started while in college. My good friend was an entrepreneurial business major, and with me majoring in graphic design, it only made sense. We’ve been going strong for almost four years and have locked down six store accounts across the nation and one large online shop called PLNDR. The whole concept of the company is to promote young and skilled entrepreneurs, musicians, and athletes that are killing it because it’s their true passion. Definitely scope Dienastyselect.com for some more info!

What was your favorite Session; and what was your favorite clip?
My favorite session and clip were both from Sunday Session #14, when we went up to North County. I just remember the weather being absolutely perfect and the crew we were with was just vibing hard that day. Plus, it’s always awesome shredding street with Louie Z. My favorite trick of mine from the series was probably that long topsoul to ao pornstar transfer. It felt really good to have Louie tell me that was one of the hardest trick he’s seen done on such a legendary spot. I was stoked!

Well thanks again for all the shredding, man. See you in the streets soon.
BTW, thanks to ONE for putting out these weekly edits for everyone to enjoy! It definitely grew the SD scene that much closer and hopefully juiced a lot of dudes to skate across the country!
